Robert Wilson - Balthus Unfinished from August 31st to September 9th

ATTENTION : Inscriptions take place directly on the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts website :

Two internationally renowned artists take over the construction site of the future museum on the PLATEFORME 10 construction site : mcb-a presents "Balthus Unfinished", designed and set by the famous American director Robert Wilson.

Since the death of Balthus (Balthazar Klossowski de Rola) in 2001, the studio he had set up opposite the Grand Chalet de Rossinière has been preserved in its original state - pigments and brushes, drawings, barely touched canvases and unfinished works by the artist. For the first time, visitors will be able to discover part of this collection : 18 drawings, unfinished canvases, but also preparatory work, in the form of tiling, of his masterpiece Passage du Commerce-Saint-André (1952-1954).

Unfinished works, in a building itself under construction : it is in this unexpected context that visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a staging designed by Robert Wilson, where the alchemy between the works, the building under construction, the light and the sound will allow an unprecedented experience.
